Our second branding of community-championing good guys the-trumpet.co.uk. Having tested the idea of an interactive and motivational community resource, the brand and its offering needed revamping in line with test and user feedback and the shift in audience the website had experienced during its evolution. New support and marketing materials were needed to drive the business forward and enable the new community features.

Out of the jungle

Despite featuring editorial content about local businesses, community groups and events, The Trumpet wanted to distance itself from any perceptions of being a “newspaper” due to its multitude of other features and facilities. A classy, non-intimidating elephant logo was created and striking elephant imagery, alongside feel-good, natural people shots, was used to convey a professional yet accessible brand that aligned with its identified demographic.

Beyond the plain

The Trumpet website was completely pared down and optimised to the identified user requirements, including now being fully responsive and engaging on all devices. The site is highly visual and strict brand guidelines are in place to ensure quality consistency. Ease of use on both sides was paramount and the comprehensive yet simple Content Management System allows administrators and correspondents to update content regularly and effectively.

Protecting the herd

The Trumpet’s community offering was greatly enhanced in this version and a whole range of supportive material were developed. Applications included a template website system for a new funded and managed community offering, print design to market specific events and e-shots to develop regular newsletter content. The Trumpet itself needed glossy brochures to attract business sponsors - all designed to be highly engaging and disruptive.
